The Lake
Dating back to the 18th century, Redwood Lake features on the historic Cassini map, the earliest recorded mapping of France. This stunning, pre-Napoleonic seven-acre carp fishing lake in France is set within sixteen acres of secluded woodland and fern meadows, located in the small hamlet of Seuil. The lake varies in depth from approximately three to ten feet, with the deepest water found near the dam end. Numerous hard spots and natural features are present throughout, particularly along the far margins, providing excellent conditions for big carp. Partially surrounded by mature woodland—including oak, chestnut, pine, and silver birch—the venue supports abundant wildlife and delivers a calm, natural fishing experience.
Well-maintained, mown grass banks provide clean and comfortable fishing in natural surroundings. There are ten well-spaced swims around the lake, offering plenty of choice and flexibility, with no issues when moving swims during a session. The Fish
The lake is home to approximately 180 carp, comprising a mix of young, fast growing fish alongside some stunning old English looking fish. The current average weight is around 36 lbs, with the lake record now standing at 61 lbs. There are still a few carp that have yet to be caught, and we believe that one or two of these uncaptured fish have the potential to exceed the existing lake record.
Perfectly situated in the heart of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region known for its long, hot summers and extended growing seasons the lake offers ideal conditions for strong, consistent growth. Over the coming years, we expect this to continue, with annual growth of over 10lb now becoming increasingly common among many of the younger fish.
